A female undergraduate reported being sexually assaulted and photographed without her consent by a male undergraduate student, who she knew, in a residence hall between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Oct. 31, according to an email sent to the student body today by Campus Safety and Security.

The University is currently investigating the incident.

University officials know the identities of both parties and are proceeding with actions in accordance with University policies,” reads an excerpt from the email.

The female student reported the incident late yesterday, according to Executive Director of Media Relations and Crisis Communications Dennis O’Shea.

According to Security, the specific residence hall in which the alleged assault occurred has not been released because the investigation is ongoing.

  1. If sexual assault has occurred or has been alleged, why are the police not investigating? Sexual assault is a crime not a residence hall policy violation.

  2. This is absolutely awful, and I hope the victim gets the support she needs. But isn’t it pretty hypocritical that the residence hall and its staff get to have anonymity because the investigation is ongoing, yet SigEp was named when an accusation was made against them?
